Don't Worry, Be Healthy

Kale chips.

Who doesn’t love potato chips?  They are certainly one of my guilty pleasures.  However, as most people can relate, my self-control with bagged potato chips is non-existent– not to mention they are full of bad fats and contain hardly any nutritional benefits.

There is an amazing alternative which you can eat without feeling guilty.  Most people in the health world already know the secret, but to those of you who don’t, you must try Kale Chips.

Purchasing them in the health food store can hurt your bank account.

Making them at home is very easy!

All you need are three ingredients:

  • 1 bunch kale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt

Directions

  1. Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a non-insulated cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  2. With a knife or kitchen shears carefully remove the leaves from the thick stems and tear into bite size pieces. Wash and thoroughly dry kale with a salad spinner. Drizzle kale with olive oil and sprinkle with seasoning salt.
  3. Bake until the edges brown but are not burnt, 10 to 15 minutes.

Not only are these delicious treats easy to make but they are PACKED with nutrients.

One cup of kale contains 36 calories, 5 grams of fiber, and 15% of the daily requirement of calcium and vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), 40% of magnesium, 180% of vitamin A, 200% of vitamin C, and 1,020% of vitamin K. It is also a good source of minerals copper, potassium, iron, manganese, and phosphorus.

Enjoy.
